THE PRODUCTION PROCESS – PATENTED TECHNOLOGY.

USING ITS PATENTED VACUUM PRESS DRYING METHOD (VACU3), TIMURA TRANSFORMS AND REFINES NATIVE WOODS INTO THERMO WOOD.

Using our patented Vacu3 method, we are able to thermally modify virtually any native wood. timura primarily uses its patented press drying method to transform and refine ash, poplar, pine and oak into thermo wood with durability class 1 or 2.

The woods are placed in a vacuum chamber and thermally modified to make thermo wood. Heating plates placed between the individual layers of wood and 70 tons of mechanical pressure ensure even heat transfer.

Unlike other thermal processes for the modification of wood to make thermo wood, timura's patented technology is more efficient and the use of heating plates to transfer heat ensures the uniform treatment and homogenous staining of all wood products

TIMURA THERMO WOOD CAN BE SANDED MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT LOSING ITS AESTHETIC OR TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:

The 70-ton mechanical pressure "irons out" the wood panels so that we can guarantee the high dimensional stability of our products.

The temperature of the vacuum chamber is only raised above 200°C when the residual moisture within the wood has reached 0% (kiln-dry). Treatment

intensities can be precisely controlled via temperature and duration of the wood panels in the vacuum chamber. This means that wood colours for end products can also be individually modified – from light brown to almost black.

Reducing the atmospheric pressure in the chamber achieves a significantly lower water boiling point (54°C) and vacuum pressure and contact heat ensure a controlled evaporation of residual moisture and pollutants from the whole of the wood.

That is why timura thermo wood falls significantly below the recommended limits for toxins and does not have the "smokey smell" generally typical of thermally treated wood. timura thermo wood is the world’s first thermal timber to meet the test criteria of the "Committee for Health-Related Evaluation of Building Products" (AgBB) and is also entirely safe for indoor installation.
